“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
- Maria Robinson
Jennifer J (Ruth)Another cool night and the weather can't seem to make up it's mind what it is going to do during the day. It sounds as if August is going to bring some good weather along with it and we may even get some rain by the end of next week, which will be very welcome. After yesterday's work morning, most of the horses are having a canter up Warren Hill and a pick of grass on Long Hill on the way home.
Shomberg (Lauren)We have two runners today, both at Goodwood. Mystery Star runs first in the mile and six furlong handicap at 2.35 pm., which looks a competitive race, as you would expect at Glorious Goodwood. He ran a cracking race in the Chester Cup first time out this year and then struggled on the soft going at Newcastle next time but back on the faster going and with the usual luck needed in these races he should be thereabouts.
Kathleen Frances runs in the 5.35 pm race, which represents a drop in trip and the ground will be fast enough for her but she seems in great form and likes Goodwood, having won there last year.
Rhea first lot on Star Commmander and then on Five Hearts second lotIt is another fantastic day's racing at Goodwood today with the Stewards' Cup and the Nassau Stakes. For those of you wanting to have a bet in the Stewards' Cup, it will be interesting to watch the first race, which will give you an idea as to the effect of the draw. The main race is a great spectacle with 28 horses charging down the straight and picking the winner will keep you busy all morning.
The Nassau Stakes is a fascinating contest with Midday, Snow Fairy and Crystal Capella doing battle. Finding the winner might prove as difficult as the Stewards' Cup but for the racing enthusiast, watching fillies of this calibre is a joy in itself.
