Akula runs at Cheltenham on Sunday

A bright morning with a bit of misty low cloud which the sun will soon beat off, and it looks like it might be quite a nice day. Everybody is in great form with plenty of chat going on and banter being thrown around. It's a unique industry we all work in and the character and the enthusiasm of the staff is so good for team spirit.
The horses have had a gentle canter after yesterday's busy morning, and Steve and his yearling gang have been putting rollers on a few fillies for the first time, which is always exciting.

No runners today but one on Sunday at Cheltenham. Akula runs in the Intermediate Hurdle which is one of those races for young horses just out of their novice. He is taking on five and six year olds and it looks like quite a good race, but he is pretty smart as he showed last year and is a brilliant jumper. So I expect him, especially after having a run on the flat, to perform with credit and he could be a reasonable prospect for the first four.

The yearlings continue to delight me and we are starting to get interest from new owners in them. I have several for sale , some not yet up on the website, and also shares in older horses. There are one or two shares still left in the syndicates, especially Comrade Bond, who is now rated 70. He is tremendous value and one who will give plenty of racing and fun next season. What a Christmas present a share in a racehorse makes for somebody!

Very rarely have I mentioned football this winter, but this weekend is the first round of the F.A. Cup. The Owls have a tremendous draw away at Morecambe - it is live ESPN so anybody who wants a delight can switch on then. England are playing Spain today and Butch, one of my lads, is going down to watch them. He can't wait to see the Spanish players!
